Governance & Strategy Head Teacher

Summary

ML4Good are looking for a Head Teacher to join our governance & strategy teaching team, helping us bring our successful new programme to more regions across the world.

You'll take an ambitious leadership role, leading instructional sessions, shaping the curriculum, and mentoring participants through their AI safety journey. You’ll get the opportunity to work alongside a team of teachers and TAs to run an intensive 8-day bootcamp.

In this hiring round, we're looking for someone to co-lead our June governance bootcamp, and then take on one bootcamp as lead Head Teacher during our summer season (August–October), with the opportunity to travel intercontinentally.

The initial contract includes:

  • Twenty hours of pre-camp work (including pre-camp meetings, updating or developing sessions, and supervising TAs to do the same)
  • Full-time attendance at the 8-day bootcamp in France, 22–30 June 2026
  • Ten hours of wrap-up work (including wrap-up meeting, making improvements, logging feedback)
  • Compensation is £2,780 per bootcamp, covering the preparation, attendance, and wrap-up work

Our teaching teams consistently tell us the bootcamps are one of the highlights of their year. It's a chance to step out of their usual work, teach motivated people, and be surrounded by other people who care about making AI go well. Participants rate our bootcamps above 9/10, and more than a few have told us it was the best week of their life.

To apply for this role, please complete this form. Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis until April 27th.

About Us

About ML4Good

The first bootcamps were part of fieldbuilding research by EffiSciences, who concluded that ML4Good was the most effective fieldbuilding activity out of the many things they tried. Our alumni have gone on to work in the European AI Office, the French Centre for AI Safety (CeSIA), the Observatorio de Riesgos Catastróficos Globales (ORCG), Future of Life Institute, and SaferAI, among many others. Many have also gone on to participate in further programmes such as MATS and Pivotal.

Our goal is to transform participants' motivation into insights and concrete steps in 8 days. For example, during ML4Good Brazil, we created and reactivated 4 different AI Safety field-building groups in Latin America: Argentina, Colombia, AI safety Brazil and ImpactRio, and ImpactUSP (University of Sao Paulo). Participants leave the bootcamp with a plan on how to use their unique skills to contribute to AI safety.

We're proud to say we receive great feedback. Participants consistently rate us above 9/10 for recommending this bootcamp. And, without exaggeration, multiple participants have told us that ML4Good was the best experience of their life.

The Bootcamps

The bootcamp is a 8-day in-person intensive programme aiming to upskill participants in the AI safety landscape, to cover latest developments, and to develop an understanding of AI governance and strategic topics. We help participants to find where their unique skillset can best contribute. Each day features a diverse set of activities such as technical coursework, presentations, group discussions, projects, and social activities in the evenings. We emphasize hands-on application of the ideas explored, with a literature review project on one day, and a 2-day project at the end of the camp.

Our curriculum is continuously evolving to keep pace with the rapidly advancing field of AI safety. Head teachers play a key role in shaping the development of the curriculum, ensuring that we stay up-to-date and are always improving. For an example, you can see the curriculum of our latest bootcamp here (it will have changed by June!).

Our teachers overwhelmingly enjoy the bootcamps - many of them see it as a fun break from their usual routine where they have the opportunity to share their knowledge and help others in their AI safety journey.
